Decide how long you can be down, before it happens
When a server dies or ransomware locks your files, two questions decide how bad the day gets: how much data is gone, and how long until people can work again. Most businesses have never answered either.
Our backup and disaster recovery service in Toronto answers both in advance. We agree the numbers with you for each system, then run, test and watch the backups that make them possible.
- Recovery times and acceptable data loss agreed with you, system by system
- A written order for what comes back first
- Backups watched by our team, and failed jobs fixed
- Test restores, with the results shared with you
- A copy kept off-site, separate from your network
- A 15-minute response when a critical problem stops work
Backups someone runs vs a recovery someone has planned
| One in-house IT person | Backup and recovery with BALANCED+ | |
|---|---|---|
| How long you would be down | Unknown until it happens | Agreed with you for each system |
| How much data you could lose | Whatever the last good backup holds | Set per system, backups scheduled to match |
| Proof backups work | A green tick in the backup software | Test restores, results shared with you |
| If ransomware hits | Backups may be encrypted too | A copy kept off-site, away from your network |
| During an outage | One person, while also answering calls | Our team runs the restore, on site in the GTA within the hour if needed |
| Cost | Salary, benefits, plus software and storage | One monthly fee |
Recovery time is the number that matters
A backup schedule says when copies are made. A recovery plan says what happens on the bad day. Ours sets two numbers for each system:
- How long it can be down: hours for your main business system, perhaps longer for an archive
- How much data you can lose: the gap between backups you can live with
We then set the backups to meet those numbers, and write down who restores what, in what order.

Recovering from ransomware starts with a clean copy
Ransomware encrypts whatever it can reach, and backups stored on the same network are often first. Getting back means two things:
- A clean copy: kept off-site, separate from your network, from before the attack
- A plan: who makes which decisions in the first hours, agreed before you need it
Our security operations centre watches your systems 24/7, so an attack can be spotted early, before it spreads.
Toronto offices on Microsoft 365 still need their own backup
Microsoft keeps its service running. It does not promise to bring back a mailbox someone deleted, or files overwritten by mistake months ago.
For Toronto businesses that run on Microsoft 365, email, OneDrive and SharePoint belong in the recovery plan like any server: backed up separately, with a restore time agreed in advance.

Backup and disaster recovery in Toronto: straight answers
How much data could we lose?
Whatever was created since your last good backup. We agree that gap with you for each system and schedule backups to match it.
How long would we be down after a disaster?
That depends on what failed, so we agree a recovery time with you for each system before anything goes wrong. When a critical problem stops work, we respond within 15 minutes, and a technician can be on site anywhere in the GTA within the hour.
How much does backup and disaster recovery cost?
A monthly fee, set mainly by how much data and how many systems we protect. You get the exact number after the free backup assessment.
Can you recover data from a broken hard drive?
No. Physical drive recovery is specialist lab work and we do not offer it. Our job is to make sure you never need it, because a tested copy already exists.
We have our own IT team. Will this replace them?
No. Many IT managers keep their team on daily IT and hand us the backups, testing and recovery plan. That is co-managed IT.
Do you only protect businesses in Toronto?
No. We are based in Mississauga and serve businesses across the GTA: Toronto (including North York and Etobicoke), Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington and Vaughan.
