Ongoing Portal Development & Support for Altruvest

Altruvest Charitable Services Toronto, ON Ongoing since 2020

Since 2020, BALANCED+ has provided pro bono technical expertise to Altruvest, supporting and developing their proprietary portal that matches corporate leaders and volunteers with local charities seeking board members.

About the Organization

Altruvest Charitable Services is a Toronto-based charity dedicated to strengthening the nonprofit sector by connecting qualified corporate leaders and skilled volunteers with local charities seeking board members. Through structured training, mentorship, and ongoing support, Altruvest helps these organizations build the governance capacity they need to deliver valuable community services and further their causes.

Since its founding in 1995, Altruvest has built an impressive track record: matching over 5,000 candidates to charitable boards and committees, placing 800+ corporate employees on corporate boards, and serving more than 1,000 charities and nonprofit organizations across the Greater Toronto Area.

01

The Challenge

Altruvest’s mission depends on a proprietary digital portal that powers the matching process between corporate volunteers and charitable organizations. As the platform grew to serve thousands of candidates and over 1,000 charities, it required ongoing technical attention, from feature development and performance optimization to security maintenance and infrastructure reliability. As a charity operating with limited resources, Altruvest needed a trusted technology partner who understood both the technical demands and the importance of keeping costs low so more funding could go directly to their mission.

  • Proprietary matching portal required ongoing development and feature enhancements
  • Limited budget meant technical resources competed directly with program funding
  • Platform needed to scale reliably to serve 1,000+ charities and thousands of candidates
  • Security and maintenance were critical for protecting sensitive volunteer and charity data

The Outcomes

Since partnering with Altruvest in 2020, BALANCED+ has helped ensure the organization’s proprietary portal remains a reliable, secure, and evolving platform. Our ongoing contributions have freed up Altruvest’s limited resources to focus on what they do best, connecting corporate leaders with the charities that need their expertise.

The partnership has supported Altruvest’s continued impact across the Greater Toronto Area, where the organization has now matched over 5,000 candidates to charitable boards, placed 800+ corporate employees on boards, and served more than 1,000 nonprofits. By keeping the technology running smoothly behind the scenes, BALANCED+ helps ensure that every match happens efficiently and every charity gets the governance support it needs.

Working with Altruvest has been one of the most rewarding partnerships in our giving back program, and we look forward to continuing to support their important work for years to come.
